AEED fails to confirm President’s nominee

The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly on Friday failed to confirm the president’s nominee, Mr Peter Light Koomson as the District Chief Executive for his second term of office.

Mr Koomson polled 41 yes votes as against 25 no votes, and this is short of the needed two thirds majority; however, by this margin, Mr Koomson stands the chance of a second round of voting at a date to be fixed later.

Mr Samuel Sarpong, the Central Regional Minister was present to observe the polls with a number of Deputy Ministers, Municipal and District Chief Executives, some top National Democratic Congress executives as well as the Central Regional Coordinating Council officials.

The election was conducted by the District Electoral Officer, Mr Prosper Fiifi Caiquo and his team, supported by the Central Regional Deputy Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Serebuor Quaicoe.
