I want more banku and tilapia – Kuranchie requests from prison

Mr. Kenwood Nuworso, Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured that convicted Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, Ken Kuranchie, is in good spirits and in good health upon his relocation from the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to Ho Central Prison last Wednesday dawn.

According to him, executives of the NPP party in the Volta Region visited the strong-willed journalist who is serving a 10-day jail sentence for a contemptuous publication.

Mr. Kenwood Nuworso told OKAY FM that, Mr. Kuranchie when offered a mattress and pillow to sleep on rejected them and rather demanded for his favourite novel titled ‘Dark Room’. We welcomed him with banku and tilapia in the morning, and he enjoyed the food so much that he requested for more. We got him a chest full of banku and lots of bread which he distributed among his inmates”. We even offered to bring him a mattress, but he would not allow us.

The Volta Regional Chairman of the NPP has vowed to do everything within the law and the regulation of the prison to make him comfortable for the rest of the days he will be in prison.

Ken Kuranchie told Mr. Kenwood Nuworso that: “he had not had enough rest in a long time and that he is going to use his adversity to have a short rest and reflect on his life.”
