Portion of Mechanical Llyod building in Takoradi collapses

Portion of Mechanical Llyod Company storey building under construction in Takoradi collapsed on Tuesday morning but labourers working at the site were not hurt.

The workers, who were on break when the incident occurred, refused to talk to the GNA, and officials of the company were not present for any comment.

Mr Charles Ampomah Mensah, Metropolitan Works Engineer, told the GNA that he would meet the authorities of the company to be followed by investigations into circumstances leading to the collapse of part of the structure.

He, however, said the company has received a permit from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, and the building was designed by qualified architects.

When GNA visited the site on Wednesday morning, workers were seen clearing debris of the collapsed portion of the building.
