PEEF organises tree growing exercise

Perfect Example Environmental Foundation (PEEF) on Saturday organised a tree-growing exercise at the National Police Training School (NPTS) in Accra, to mark the 2013 Environmental On-Line (ENO) Tree Growing Day.

The Foundation is a non-profit entity based in Tema in the Greater Accra Region that champions the campaign against environmental issues, climate change and water management.

This year, ENO Day celebration is on the theme: “Every Drop Count, Every Act Count.”

Charles K.A. Aboagye, Chief Executive Officer of PEEF, said it was to sensitise the students to take it upon themselves to support efforts to reduce environmental degradation.

He said educating the Ghanaian public to grow trees in their various homes and environments was very important and that the Foundation was committed to educating people more.

Mr Aboagye said the planting and growing of trees also help to reduce global warming and appealed to Ghanaians to change their attitude towards environmental pollution, which was also a major factor in environmental degradation.

Inspector Osei Kwadwo, a staff of the NPTS, said the exercise was the first of its kind and that the love shown by the PEEF was a good example.

He said a tree is life and that when the last tree dies the last man dies, adding that the students through the exercise would gain some knowledge on planting trees.
