Disagreements with single spine will pass – FWSC

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission has said disagreements with sections of organized labour about the Single Spine Pay Policy (SSPP) is a passing phase.

The Commission is therefore asking for goodwill in ensuring peace and harmony on the industrial front.

In a solidarity message issued on the occasion of May Day, the FWSC said it would partner organised labour to work to uphold the integrity of the Single Spine Pay Policy.

Earl Ankrah, Public Relations Officer of the commission told Joy News the challenges that have so far confronted the new pay policy was expected.

“You can’t have a pay policy this new and not expect some of these challenges to come…

“These are challenges that we will have to sit around and deal with and move on as a country,” he stated.

As stakeholders and partners, in ensuring equity, transparency and fairness in public pay administration, we wish to express our sincere appreciation to you, for the co-operation and collaboration that we have received from Organized Labour to date.

We trust and believe that the coming years will see more of such goodwill, especially in ensuring peace and harmony on the industrial front, which are necessary ingredients for development to our mutual benefit; as we commence the performance management phase of the policy, aimed at linking pay to productivity.
