Police administration investigates personnel in fuel theft case

The Police administration has noted with disappointment the reported involvement of some personnel of the Ejisu Police in the siphoning of fuel from an accident fuel tanker on Friday April 19, 2013.

A statement signed by DSP Cephas Arthur, Director of Public Affairs at the Police Headquarters and copied to the Ghana News Agency said “It is unfortunate that rather than protecting lives and property by securing the scene, the said personnel were reported to be siphoning fuel and such behavior must be condemned if that was the case.”

It said the Police administration has already initiated investigation into the incident with the view to unravelling the fact of the matter and applying the appropriate sanctions where necessary.

“On the other hand, Police report indicated that Police Officers rather put measures in place to prevent people from rushing for the fuel, realizing that the situation could degenerate into a disaster, considering the combustible nature of the fuel,” it added.
