Nobody can change figures on pink sheets – Parry

The Electoral Commission has dismissed claims by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) that the arrest of some of its officials with pink sheets in Savelugu is proof that the EC is fiddling with results of the just ended elections.

The NPP led by its General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, had accused the EC of tampering with election results shortly after it had filed its election petition at the Supreme Court.

After the arrest of the EC officials over the weekend with the pink sheets, Mr. Owusu Afriyie stated that the NPP has been exonerated.

But the Acting Public Relations Officer of the EC, Christian Owusu Parry told Citi FM the EC cannot manufacture figures several months after the elections.

“There is no evidence or whatsoever of tampering of results. The figures that are on those sheets cannot be changed because it is not solely the Commission that is in possession of the forms. We gave copies of some of those forms to all party agents at the polling station and so the parties already have copies of those forms.”

He insists “Nobody can change any figure on those forms and if you do, you do that at your own risk.”
