Chief calls for provision of more computers to schools

Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, the Paramount Chief of Kenyasi No. 1 Traditional Area in the Asutifi North District, has called for more computers to be provided for basic schools in the country.

He stressed on the importance of computer literacy in enhancing the socio-economic life of the individual and the entire country and said despite the introduction of computer classes in schools, there were no computers and instructors to teach the pupils.

Nana Osei Kofi Abiri made the call Thursday when he inspected an on-going computer laboratory project for Kenyasi No. 1 Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS) and renovation works at the Anglican, Methodist and Roman Catholic JHSs, all being financed by him.

He said it was only when logistics are provided and teachers motivated that the right results would be obtained, adding that the provision of the laboratories would improve information communication technology (ICT) in the area.

He said 10 years from now, all pupils in his traditional area would be computer literate.
