Contracts are not shared like groundnuts – Roads Minister-designate

Minister designate for Roads and Highways, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani says no one should expect to win a contract from his ministry, based on their political affiliations.

He said under his tenure, contracts will only be awarded based on competence.

Alhaji Sulemani made this statement when answering questions before the Appointments Committee of Parliament Friday.

He explained that the Procurement Act expressly states what processes must be followed when awarding contracts and his ministry will strictly follow that.

“…Contracts are not shared like groundnuts,” and anyone who wins a contract from the Roads & Highways Ministry will “win on merits”, he declared.
