Upper West June 4 Movement congratulates President Mahama

The Upper West Regional branch of the June Four Movement has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for leading the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to victory in this year’s general election.

In a statement issued in Wa, the Movement said the President’s victory showed that Ghanaians had accepted the “Better Ghana Agenda”, which would be pursued to its logical conclusion under President Mahama.

The statement, which was signed by Mr Geoffrey Tuu, the Movement’s Regional Secretary cited extension of electricity, provision of potable water, construction of roads and removal of schools under trees by the government as unprecedented achievements in the nation’s history.

It congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for putting up a good fight but advised the Party to concede defeat and join hands with the NDC for the advancement of the “Better Ghana Agenda”.

The Movement lauded NDC Members of Parliament-elect in the Region for working hard to win their seats.

It mentioned in particular, Mr Alban Bagbin Member of Parliament (MP) for Nadowli West, Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Wa West, Mathias Puozaa, Daffiama/Bussie/Issa and Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, Wa Central.

The Movement urged them to identify and groom staunch NDC members to take over from them any time they wish to discontinue as MPs.

The statement condemned the “barbaric” shooting of Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, the Regional Minister who is also MP- elect for Sissala West.

He was shot by a gang of armed robbers during a tour of his constituency last week.
