Free education is good but quality education is better – Otabil

A more recent tape of Dr. Mensa Otabil is out on which he is heard telling a congregation to strive to give better education to their children even if the many free education policies being promised by politicians come into effect.

On this latest tape, the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church did not vehemently condemn free education as he did on a ten-year old tape which was recently aired by many radio stations that sparked a media blitz in reference to the free education policies promised by opposition parties such as the NPP, CPP and PPP.

The recent tape, according to the Informer Newspaper is less than a month old.

Dr. Mensa Otabil is heard jovially telling the congregation at a Tuesday service that free education is good but its quality cannot be guaranteed.

“Free is good but I think if you really want to give your children education, you are going to pay either than that the knowledge they will bring home to you…

“But it is minimal, if government is going to take care of your children’s education that is great but I don’t a man should say now I can produce more children because of [free education] you have to be more responsible.

“Sometimes you have to go the extra mile for your child that is the least you can do, if your father didn’t do it for you, do it for your children” Dr. Otabil said.

The tone of this recent tape is in sharp contrast to the earlier one aired recently by a lot of radio stations which the Church later described as an old tape that was about ten years old even though Pastor Mensah Otabil was speaking about the same subject of free education.
