Health professionals advised to follow procedure to avoid judgment debts

The Eastern Regional Director of Medical Services, Dr Erasmus Agongo, has advised health professionals to strictly follow due procedures in the practice of their profession to avoid the payment of judgment debts.

He explained that from the way the issue of judgment debts kept popping up, when it gets to a stage where the government could not pay the debts, public servants whose actions or in-actions caused the debts would be charged for causing financial loss to the state.

Dr Agongo was speaking at the mid-year review meeting of the Koforidua Regional Hospital at Koforidua on Thursday.

He said all indication showed an improvement in the service delivery of the hospital and reminded the staff that in health care, the more the improvement in service delivery, the more the clients demand for better services.

Dr Agongo, therefore urged the staff of the hospital not to rest on their oars but to strive for higher heights.

Mr. Charles Ntim of the Psychiatric Unit appealed to the New Juaben Municipal Assembly to use part of its disability fund to support the hospital to provide treatment for mad persons roaming the streets of Koforidua.

He advised the Municipal Assembly not to wait till important personalities were coming to the town before removing insane persons from the streets.

Mr. Thompson Obrey of the Medical Records Department appealed to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to ensure that it activate all insurance cards of their clients after renewal.

He said clients of the hospital from far districts who are referred to the regional hospital had had problems with their NHIS cards after renewals because of delay in activating them onto the system.**
