NDC must win 2012 elections to preserve Rawlings-Okudzeto Ablakwa

Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Deputy Minister of Information on Friday said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) should win the December polls to preserve Former President Jerry John Rawlings and his family from abuse.

He said the Founder of the NDC and family are likely to be abused by the administration of New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Whether he joins us or not, we must work hard for his welfare,” Mr. Ablakwa emphasized.

Mr. Ablakwa was speaking at a forum organised by the Ho Polytechnic, Ho Nurses Training College and Evangelical Presbyterian University chapters of Tertiary Educational Institution Network (TEIN) of the NDC in Ho.

“Many of us were disheartened when NPP subjected our Founder and his family to several dehumanising treatments for eight years and we must not allow that to happen to him any longer,” Mr. Ablakwa said.

He said NDC victory in December 2012 would be the greatest gift to Flt Lt Rawlings and urged members of the Party to work very hard to achieve the feat.

Mr. Kobby Acheampong, Deputy Minister of the Interior said the NDC was at a crossroad but expressed the hope that the Party would be very successful after its “re-birth”.

He urged members to remain focus and “follow the leader of the Party”.

“At every given time, we have one leader for our great Party. We’ve never had two leaders so we must follow our leader and go through our re-birth successfully,” Mr. Acheampong said.

Mr. Henry Ford Kamel, Volta Regional Minister urged the youth not to be discouraged about recent developments in the Party, instead, rally behind its leader, Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

Mr. Ludwig Hlordze, National Youth Organiser of the NDC, said young people in the Party has great future and urged them to propagate the “good works” of the Party and “win souls” for an easy task in the December polls.

Mr. Chris P. Awudi, President of Ho Polytechnic TEIN called for a succession plan to be developed for the youth to assume leadership positions in the Party.**
