“I will retain Abuakwa North seat for NPP”-J B Danquah

Mr Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Abuakwa North, has given the assurance that he would retain the seat for the party in the coming elections.

He said considering the past work he did in terms of bringing development to the people when he was the Member of Parliament (MP), between 2005 and 2009, it was clear that the people would give him the mandate to represent them again.

He appealed to the people to be wary of negative propaganda from his political opponents who were making promises they could not fulfill.

Mr Boakye Danquah gave the assurance when he paid a surprise visit to the New Tafo market over the weekend to interact with the market women and to get familiarized with the challenges they were going through as a result of stalled rehabilitation works at the market.

Construction works at the market started about six months ago but the project had come to a standstill as the contractor had abandoned it citing lack of funds and thus creating inconveniences for the traders.

Mr Boakye-Danquah was optimistic that he would defeat Mr Victor Smith, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the area who is also the Eastern Regional Minister designate.

“Mr Smith knows that his appointment as regional minister would not change the people’s mind to vote for him because he has already lost the election” he said.

He urged the market women to register in their numbers during the upcoming biometric voters’ registration also called on NPP supporters to be on the alert and help prevent minors and other unqualified people from getting their names onto the voters register.

He appealed to them to take the exercise serious because of its critical role and importance on the December polls and its outcome.

Some of the market women complained that construction works at the market was creating unnecessary inconveniences for them and appealed to Mr Boakye Danquah to come to their aid.
