Akyemmansa NCCE embarks on sensitization programme

The Akyemmansa District Secretariat of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has begun a sensitization programme in Churches in the area on the biometric registration exercise.

Communities visited so far include Abrade, Chia, Apatey, Nyamebekyere, Sukran, Bontodiase, Asuboa North, Akokoaso and Adwafo.

Mr Daniel Chartey, the District Director of the NCCE, stressed the importance of the exercise adding that it would avoid multiple registration and voting thereby ensuring clean, transparent and credible elections.

He advised all eligible Ghanaians to take advantage of the exercise and register since the biometric register would replace the old one.

Mr Chartey mentioned other advantages of the Biometric register as the elimination of over-blotted registers, removal of the names of deceased persons and properly identifying actual voters residing in an electoral area.

He recalled tensions in the past when there were so many allegations of double voting, creating misunderstanding, distrust, chaos and sometimes violence and appealed to all Ghanaians to help make the exercise a success.
