Ghanaian Diplomat wants Ghana-US dual citizenship back

Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – Dr Daniel Nikoi Kotei, a retired Diplomat at the weekend asked the government to restore the dual citizenship agreement between Ghana and the US, which he said was annulled in 2009.

He said the annulment, had led to a number of Ghanaians who are interested in the facility not receiving official response to their application.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, he asked why “US citizens who want Ghanaian citizenship can go through the prerequisite requirements to acquire citizenship while Ghanaians cannot do vice versa?”

Dr Kotei, a US-based Ghanaian therefore asked the government to reverse the anomaly since the facility is the right of every citizen who is eligible.
