Police Arrests man with pump-action gun

Legon (Accra), Sept. 29, GNA – The Legon District Police night patrol team has arrested a 38-year-old man, Mr Amanianpong Yeboah with a pump-action gun on the street near A&C Shopping Mall at East Legon.

Speaking to GNA on the incident, the Commander, Superintendent of Police (SOP) Frank A. Anning, said on September 25, while the police team was on patrol, they came across the culprit who was heavily drunk and was wielding the gun in front of the A&C Shopping Mall around 23.00 hours.

The patrol team arrested him for questioning.

During police interrogation, Amanianpong Yeboah stated that he lived around a house which was about 100 meters away from the Shopping Mall and that, the weapon he was carrying belonged to his father who had traveled that night overseas.

He was initially arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court (1) and was remanded in police custody to re-appear for hearing on September 29, 2011.
