Speaker arrives from Burkina Faso

The Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Peter Ala Adjetey, returned home on Friday night after attending the opening session of the national assembly of Burkina Faso.Mr. Adjetey and Mr. Doe Ajaho, Minority Chief Whip, were in Burkina Faso at the invitation of that country’s Parliament.

Speaking to journalists at the airport, Mr. Adjetey said it is a reciprocal visit and that the two parliaments have been in regular contact.

The speaker had the opportunity to address the Burkinabe Parliament on issues such as good governance and the rule of law.

He reminded them of the need to meet the aspirations of their people and urged them to co-operate with other parliaments in the sub-region.

The two Speakers also discussed ways of strengthening relations between their countries, in order to promote understanding at both executive and legislative levels.
