June 4 Uprising durbar scheduled for Kumasi

Accra, June 2, GNA – A grand durbar is to be held at the Jubilee Park, Kumasi on Saturday, June 4, to climax the 32nd anniversary celebration of the June 4, 1979 Uprising.

A statement issued by the Planning Committee in Accra on Thursday said Chairman of the erstwhile Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) and Former President, Jerry John Rawlings would be the guest of honour. It said this year’s celebration on the theme: 93Unity in Diversity Our Strength”, would commence with a route march in Accra from the Kawukudi Junction through 37 Military Hospital to the Revolution Square where there would be a wreath laying ceremony and the lighting of the perpetual flame. The Kumasi durbar will commence at 1400 hours. The statement invited all true patriots to come and celebrate the uprising that stopped the decay.
