Libyan Ambassador in Ghana condemns allied bombing

Accra, March 22, GNA – The Libyan Ambassador in Ghana, Dr Ali Ahmed Ghudban, on Tuesday condemned the West for its bombing raids of the North African country and warned that his country would exercise its right to self defence in accordance with the UN Charter. “Accordingly, naval and aerial targets, military and civilian, shall be exposed to a real threat in the Mediterranean Sea, since by this blatant military aggression and irresponsible action, the Mediterranean Sea and North Africa have actually become a war zone,” he said in a statement issued in Accra.

Dr Ghudban said in the early hours of March 19, France led 93a group of colonialist states” in a blatant aggression on Libya, thus violating the UN Charter which prohibited 93the use of force or even threat of force”.

It said France and the other coalition states, the US and United Kingdom, had violated the UN Charter.

“As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, it is her (France’s) duty to prevent any other state from violating the Charter and from the use of force or threat in solving international problems.”

Dr Ghudban said the UN Security Council and the international community had the responsibility to immediately stop “this blatant unjust aggression against Libya, a sovereign state”.

He said Libyans would confront 93this colonialist aggression” with determination, bravery, fortitude and firmness, with Allah’s support. Dr Ghudban called on peace loving people of Arab and Islamic states, the people of Latin America, Asia and Africa to stand with the valiant people of Libya to confront the aggression which would only energise the Libyan people in unity.

“Now depots are being opened and all the masses are being armed with all kinds of arms to defend the independence of Libya, its territorial integrity and honour,” he said.
