Standard Chartered Bank donates dual desk to schools

Kuntu (C/R), March 21, GNA – The Standard Chartered Bank has donated 100 dual desks to the Kuntu Methodist Primary School. Making the presentation, Naana Araba Abban, Head, Global Shared Service Centre of the Bank, said the Bank had supplied communities with mosquito nets, HIV and AIDS programmes, classroom desks and sight saving programmes.

She said the bank was doing all these as its corporate responsibility to the people.

Naana Abban said the bank felt if it invested in education it would impact on the communities.

Nana Kwesi Brebo III, Chief of Kuntu who received the desks on behalf of the school, commended the bank for the donation. He said he was happy that even though rural communities did not have access to the Standard Chartered Bank, which operated in the cities and big towns, the bank found it necessary to help a school in a rural community.

Nana Brebo said the donation showed that the bank did not discriminate in dealing with people and appealed for more of such help from corporate bodies and other donor agencies. Mr Alfred Ofei-Dei, the Welfare Officer at the Mfantseman Municipal Office of the Ghana Education Service, thanked the bank for the donation. 21 March 11
