Betty Mould Iddrisu Blows Millions On Office

President John Evans Atta Mills’ campaign pledge to cut out ‘waste and profligate’ expenditure in public service is being manifested in very interesting ways, as his appointees spend money as if they are oil sheikhs.

The Daily Searchlight newspaper can reveal that Betty Mould Iddrisu, the new Minister for Education, is so unhappy with the ‘rags’ that were in the office of her predecessor, Hon. Tetteh Enyo, that the state is currently spending tens of thousands of Ghana cedis to do a complete refurbishment of her new office with brand new, state of the art furnishings. So far, the office, which used to be occupied by Mr. Alex Tetteh Enyo, has been completely gutted and stripped to the very ground and everything that he used as the Minister of Education has been dumped to make way for brand new fittings for Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu.

This is in spite of the fact that the office was renovated at huge cost less than two years ago, when Alex Tetteh Enyo moved in. Apparently, Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu is too good to use the desks, air- and other facilitates that her predecessor used! Visits paid to the Ministry of Education on Friday and over the weekend revealed that the entire contents of Alex Tetteh Enyo’s office have been stripped and unceremoniously dumped outside, whist renovations were going on under lock and key.

Everything, including windows and air-conditioning, had been dumped. Meanwhile nobody was being allowed into the office, with Betty carrying out her duties in the Minister’s conference room. For the taxpayer, what is galling is that the entire office was renovated and adequately stocked with accessories of the highest quality when Alex Tetteh Enyo was coming into office less than two years ago. “It is sad the way they waste our money”, one worker stated.
