Member of Parliament fetes constituents

Jema (B/A), Jan. 20, GNA – Mr. Yaw Effah-Baafi, the Member of Parliament for Kintampo South, has expressed gratitude to the 98 communities in the constituency for voting to retain him as their representative in parliament for the past eight years. He promised the constituents that he would continue with an open door administration so that they could share ideas and initiate programmes that would bring progress in the area. Addressing the people at a special party he held for them at Jema, Mr. Effah-Baafi who is the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, said he had used part of the MP’s common fund to provide teachers’ bungalows at Amoma, Kokuma, Sabule and Chingakrom.

He said 65 students in second cycle and tertiary institutions in the Kintampo South District had also enjoyed scholarships to further their education and urged teachers to redouble efforts to help improve the standard of education in the area. Mr. Effah-Baafi expressed concern about chieftaincy disputes in the area and appealed to the Nkoranza Traditional Council, which is the overlord of the area, to resolve the disputes amicably. Nana Kofi Badu, Krontihene of Jema who presided, commended President John Atta Mills for making nominating Mr. Effah-Baafi as the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture. He noted that most of the people in the area were farmers and appealed to the MP to assist the farmers with farming inputs to increase food production.

Mr. Kwadwo Nyame Datiako, Kintampo South District Chief Executive, commended the MP for “bringing remarkable improvement in the lives of the people” and pledged the Assembly’s continued support.
