Needy but brilliant students get help

Bechem (B/A), Nov. 18, GNA – Mr. Bukari Zakaria Anaba, Tano South District Chief Executive, has presented a cheque for GHC 10,100 in support of the education of 60 brilliant but needy students in the area. Making the presentation at Bechem Mr. Anaba said it was the responsibility of the government to assist needy students hence two percent of the Assembly’ Common Fund had been allocated for that purpose. “If brilliant but needy students are assisted, they would be of help not only to their parents but to the community and the nation at large,” he said.

Mr. Anaba advised the beneficiaries to exhibit high moral standards, concentrate on their books, obey authority and be disciplined so they would become useful citizens. Nana Odiasempa Kwame Beniako II, Adontenhene of Bechem Traditional Council, said the Common Fund was tax payers’ money put together for development projects and education was a very vital component of development.

The beneficiary students are at Bechem Presbyterian Senior High, Tepa Senior High and Boakye Tromo Senior High Schools, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Berekum Nursing Training School.
