Speed up work on Single Spine- TUC boss

Accra, Oct. 1, GNA – The Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Mr Kofi Asamoah, on Monday, appealed to stakeholders to speed up work on the long awaited single spine pay structure, to ensure that its implementation date of January 1, 2010, takes off as planned. Addressing workers within the Accra Area District Council of Labour, Mr Asamoah said there was the need to prevent anything that would cause a postponement so “I hope stakeholders would play their part well so that the single spine takes off as planned by government” He said some of the challenges facing workers borders on low income and job insecurity, and advised them to improve upon their knowledge for a better life.

Mr Asamoah also urged workers to rededicate themselves to the cause of the Union and to attend meetings regularly to be abreast with developments within TUC He said by doing so they would be able to deliberate on important issues such as how to improve their working conditions through the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 1 Oct. 09
