Ga Mashie chiefs commended for peaceful celebration

Accra, June 9, GNA – The Chiefs and people of Ga Mashie, have been commended for observing this year’s annual ban on drumming and noise making, which precedes the Homowo festival, in peaceful and cordial atmosphere.

Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie-Komme, Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo, who made the commendation in press a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday also, praised the National Security apparatus for keeping vigilant, which ensured the successful observance of the rites. He expressed the hope that this year’s Homowo festival would also be marked in a similar manner, to give meaning to the spirit of love, brotherliness and unity that the celebration is suppose to foster. Mr. Tackie-Komme appealed to factions in the chieftaincy disputes in the area, to bury the hatchet and use dialogue in order to find solution to their problems, since they are the same people with common destiny.

He asked the people to be their brother’s keeper and pursue the path of peace to ensure improved standards of living. Mr. Tackie-Komme pleaded with the youth to use their exuberance for productive ventures and shun people who would try to exploit them to foment trouble for their selfish interests.
