Obama to visit Central Region

Mfantseman prepares for Obama’s visit
Saltpond, May 27, GNA – The Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Henry Kweku Hayfron, has called for a massive clean-up exercise to prepare the municipality for the visit of US President Barrack Obama to the Central Region in July.
He appealed to owners of undeveloped plots, especially in communities along the Accra/Cape Coast high way, to clear them of weed before the visit.
“My immediate attention is how to improve sanitation in the municipality, especially at Mankessim, a commercial centre before the visit,” he said in an interview with the GNA at Saltpond on Tuesday. “The US President may not use the road but it is possible some members of his entourage may use it and the possibility of some of them making a stop-over at Mankessim cannot be ruled out.”
Mr. Harfron commended the former Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur and the former Member of Parliament, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng and Mr. George Kuntu Blankson, MP for Mfantseman East, for their contributions to the development of the municipality and gave the assurance that he and the MP would continue with the programmes they had initiated.
The MCE said his administration would give priority to education and would set up an Education Endowment Fund to support needy but brilliant children.
He said he would also focus on job creation for women as well as the youth to enable women to support their families and to detract the youth from anti social activities.
Mr. Hayfron said farming and fishing would also be given attention. He expressed concern about the poor road network in the eastern part of the municipality and said efforts would be made to improve them.
