Kumasi, April 27, GNA – The Atta Mills Foundation, a

pro-democracy Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in

collaboration with three national soccer supporters’ unions at the

weekend undertook a four-hour Health Walk in the Kumasi

Metropolis. The participants commenced the Walk from the Anloga Junction

through some of the principal streets of the Metropolis before

converging at the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC)

where they were addressed by the Regional Minister, Mr Kofi

Poku-Manu and other officials of the Foundation. The aim of the Walk was to sensitise the public on the need for

them to undertake regular exercises to ensure healthy life. The occasion was also to commemorate the 10th anniversary of

the enstoolment of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as the Asantehene. Mr Poku-Manu reminded the citizenry that there was no magical

formula in enhancing one’s life span unless “we discipline ourselves

and lead careful lifestyles”. He commended the Foundation for organising the Walk and

called on them to always unite for the achievement of their set goals. Togbui Mawufeame Fugah, Life Patron of the Foundation,

underscored the need for corporate bodies and organisations to

always embark on such health walks to reduce stress. He expressed concern about the high rate of heart-related and

other diseases due to poor eating habits and lifestyles of some

Ghanaians and said “our health should reign supreme in all our

endeavours”.
