NDC European Members Meets in Maastricht

The European branches of the National Democratic Congress of Ghana held a working Meeting on Saturday, 18th of April 2009 in Maastricht, The Netherlands. In attendance were representatives from Switzerland, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Norway with goodwill messages from Branches in Sweden and Italy. .

The Executives agreed that all branches in Europe are members of NDC Europe subject to payment of their membership dues and committed themselves to working for the welfare of all Ghanaian communities in their respective European countries.

The Executives handled all the items on the agenda and discussed extensively matters arising out of the Memorandum & Articles of Association of NDC Europe with some pertinent changes for implementation.

To enhance NDC Europe Executive functions in its efforts to restructure the group to serve the needs of a better Ghana, some of the members present were co-opted into NDC Europe Executive.

The Branches present formed specific policy working committees to work on gender, youth education, human rights, oil, trade, health, immigration and environment issues in support of the Party Policies and also Government programmes. By so doing it encouraged the various Branches to engage with their European Socialist Parties and Parliamentarians in European countries to actively lobby in support of Policies which will support Ghana and Ghanaian immigrant population in Europe.

It solicited further inputs from members on other policy areas and encouraged members from the various Branches to volunteer as members of the various Committees to contribute professional experiences and best practises to enrich the NDC Party Programmes and implementation of Govt programmes.
