Unemployed in court for abduction and defilement

Accra, Nov. 5, GNA – A 27 year-old unemployed who allegedly hid a missing 13 year-old girl in his room and defiled her on several occasions on Wednesday appeared at a Circuit Court in Accra charged with abduction and defilement.

Kumah Kuzah, who pleaded not guilty, has been remanded into prison custody to reappear on November 14. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lawrence Gbele told the court, presided over by Mrs Ivy Heward-Mills that on September 22, the victim who was with her mother at Dansoman, went out to buy fried groundnut and corn but could not trace her home.

The prosecution said while the victim was roaming in search of her home, Kuzah saw her and took her to his house. He kept the victim in his room for two weeks and during those times, he defiled her several times. Meanwhile the victim’s mother had lodged a complaint with the Police at Dansoman about her missing daughter. On October 5, the victim returned home and narrated her ordeal to her mother who also reported the matter to the police.
