NADMO branch of UG sensitises drivers on disaster management

Accra, May 3, GNA – Drivers were on Saturday to asked to alert the Fire Service as soon as they detect fires that are beyond their control in their vehicles. “Whenever you detect any fire that you think you can not put off by yourself, please do not hesitate to alert the Fire Service since we do not charge for our services,” advises Mr. Evans Osei-Owusu, Assistant Divisional Office of the Fire Service. Speaking at a sensitisation programme organised by the University of Ghana branch of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Ose-Owusu said most fire outbreaks occurred as a result of human errors. He appealed to drivers to be very watchful whenever they take their vehicles to the garage for servicing in order to avoid fire disasters. They should also desist from using gallons as fuel tanks in their vehicles, he said. He advised drivers to take defective exhaust pipes to the appropriate garages to be fixed instead of using a cloth to tie them together.
