Tidal waves hit the Keta municipality last Tuesday, destroying 56 houses and leaving 627 people in the towns of Dzita and Fuveme, homeless.
The Dzita L.A. Basic School was also destroyed by the storm.
Briefing The Ghanaian Times at Ho on Friday, the Volta Regional Co-ordinator of NADMO, Mr Simon Bakar, said the displaced people included 364 adults and 263 children.
So far, he said, NADMO had provided plastic plates, bowls, buckets, matches, mosquito coils and nets to the victims.
Meanwhile, a heavy windstorm has also destroyed 39 houses atAgbozume, displacing 147 people, including 68 children in the Aflao municipality.
The worst affected areas are Amekwei, Sukladzi and Ahorkpe.
Denu and its environs were also not spared by last week’s raging storm, which collapsed 25 houses and left 74 people stranded at the border town.
It also caused extensive damage to 119 households at Viepe-Avoeme, displacing 300 people.
Two basic school buildings and the Light Fm radio station’s building were destroyed by the windstorm.
“For now, the relief items we have are not enough, so we are still mobilising resources to respond to the needs of the victims as soon as possible,” said Mr. Bakar.
