4-H Ghana salutes Ghanaian women

Koforidua, March 10, GNA – A youth development movement, 4-H Ghana, has congratulated Ghanaian women in commemoration of International Women’= s Day, which falls on March 8 each year.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Movement in Koforidua and signed by its Executive Director, Mr Appiah Kwaku Boateng.

The statement observed that despite the existence of Women and Children’s Ministry in the country over the past ten years, and Ghana being a signatory to many international protocols, there were still witch camps, Trokosi shrines, spousal abuse of women, underage marriages of girls, widowhood rites and many more in the country.

It said with the celebration of the day, policy makers and people in position of trust should work towards the removal of all traditional and official barriers that hindered the progress and development of women in the Ghanaian society and workplaces.
