30-year-old driver murdered at Tsatey in the V/R

Ho, Mar. 10, GNA- The Peki Police is investigating the murder of a 30-year old driver, Mawuli Torvo at Tsatey, near Tongor-Dzemeni in the South-Dayi District.

Torvo who lived in New-Kaira was said to be visiting the nearby town, Tsatey when a Paul Asempa, 32, a farmer resident in the town, allegedly killed him last Friday night at about 2100 hours under circumstances being investigated by the Police.

Mr Godwin Geraldo, Superintendent of Police in charge of the district told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on telephone on Saturday that Asempa is on the run.

He said a police team, which got to the scene of the murder some three hours after the incident are still in the town investigating the circumstances of the murder.

Mr Geraldo said the police were on the ground to prevent any community violence between residents of the two towns as a result of the murder. He said the Police could not confirm allegations that some citizens of the New-Kaira were mobilizing to attack Tsatey. Mr Geraldo said the body of Torvo had been deposited at the Peki Government Hospital morgue. 10 March 07
