2014 Budget has exposed NPP’s hypocrisy – NDC Guru

A member of the Government’s Communication machinery, Alhaji Naziru Mohammed, has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of being “selfish” and “wicked” for projecting the Mahama administration is bound to fail even before the 2014 budget was read in Parliament.

The Minority in Parliament stated that the 2014 budget statement and Economic Policy of the government is retrogressive and would not tackle the everyday challenges of ordinary people. For what appeared to be a well-rehearsed strategy, minority members occasionally lifted leaflets with various inscriptions to show their disapproval of the policies and programs outlined in the budget as the Finance Minister was doing his presentation.

Some of the inscriptions read: “GYEEDA”, “Woyome”, “Merchant Bank”, “SUBAH”, “Isofoton”, “O God, Save Ghana-Proverbs 29:4”, “Boys Abre”, Vikileaks”, among others.

The NDC communicator expressed amazement that the NPP MPs, instead of articulating their expectation of the budget, pontificated that there is nothing worthy of note in the policy statement.

To him, it is typical to discuss one’s expectations of a budget devoid of any evil projections about it as the NPP did; adding that their conduct before the budget presentation has revealed their hatred for President Mahama and his government.

“…in every budget, people give their expectations…but for the first time I don’t know the hatred some people have harbored against President Mahama that they cannot collectively assist in achieving the purpose in the budget, but to wish that he fails in everything he has set to do,” he opined.

“…the 2014 budget has exposed NPP’s hypocrisy coupled with their negative thoughts about John Mahama and the NDC government since Ghanaians have seen the good intentions of the NDC as captured in the budget presented by the Finance Minister, Seth Terkper,” Naziru Mohammed said on OkayFm.

According to him, the NPP should have constructively criticized the budget if its content did not meet their expectations and not to selfishly run it down.
