200 bags of cement for Winneba Secondary School

Winneba (C/R) Jan.1, GNA- The Chairman of the GHACEM Foundation and a member of the Council of State, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, has promised to allocate the Winneba Secondary School with 200 bags of cement, valued at 10 million cedis to help provide a fence wall for the educational facility.

The move was in response to appeals by the School authorities during the 55th Speech and Prize-giving Day celebration of the educational facility at Winneba, which was on the theme “The Education of the children- a Joint Responsibility of Parent and Teachers”. The Headmaster, Mr. Geoffrey Eduam Yarney said the school campus was often raided by thieves while herdsmen also graze on the vegetation due to the absence of a fence wall.

He said the School also lacked office, staff accommodation, dormitories and a spacious assembly hall.

Mr Yarney said the despite the problems, the School recorded good grades in the 2004 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination. Three hundred and forty one students of the 418 candidates passed the exam.
