131 aspirants vie for 47 seats in Ajumako District Assembly

Ajumako (C/R), Dec. 18, GNA – A total of 131 aspirants are vying for the 47 seats in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region. According to the District Electoral Officer, Mr Fiifi Caiquo, only nine of the contestants are women.

He said 314 men and 55 women had been registered to contest the Unit Committee election, while each of the 47 electoral areas have a maximum of five candidates. Mr Caiquo hinted that new electoral areas have been created by the Electoral Commission to ensure easy, smooth and accessible local government administration.

The new electoral areas are Tekyiman, Babinso-Brofoyedur, Kromaim, Onwane, Ekwamase, Abeka-Bewora-Ekukrom, Opepease, Apaa, Ahamakrombua and Bekoso-Obrawogum. 18 Dec. 10
