Zoomlion worker knocked down and killed

A four-wheel vehicle knocked down and killed Joseph Agbenyegah, 35-year-old worker of Zoomlion in front of the Madina Mosque in Accra.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Charles Ahiamale, Madina Divisional Police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit told Ghana News Agency that the incident occurred around 2130 hours on Friday, March 15.

He said the driver of the vehicle had appeared before the Madina Magistrate Court Grade One, presided by Madam Mariama Sammo and has been granted bail with two sureties.

DSP Ahiamale said he would reappear on April 19.

In a related incident, James Ababisah, a worker at the University of Ghana was also knocked down and killed at Zongo-junction by a saloon car at 0830 hours on March 11.

DSP Ahiamale said, the victim who sustained serious head injuries was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital and was referred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where he died the third day on admission.

Christian Decku, the driver had also appeared before the Madina Magistrate Court.

Samuel Adza, a 28- year-old worker of MTL Drilling Company, was killed when the tyre of a vehicle rolled on him at a working site at Ashaley-Botwe.

The driver of the vehicle would be arraigned after police investigations.

DSP Ahiamale appealed to drivers to be cautious when driving around densely populated areas where the three accidents occurred.

He also asked pedestrians to be watchful when crossing roads.

DSP Ahiamale expressed satisfaction that a foot bridge would be build in front of Madina Mosque to reduce the spate of accidents there.
