Zanetor wasn’t fit to contest me – Ashitey

The incumbent MP for Klottey Korle Nii Armah Ashitey has said Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, who defeated him in the ruling party’s parliamentary primary last year was not qualified to partake in the race.

This, according to him, is because the daughter of former President John Rawlings is not a registered voter in the constituency, a major requirement for her eligibility.

An Accra High court Monday dismissed an application by lawyers for Dr. Rawlings seeking to dismiss the case of eligibility brought against their client by Mr. Ashitey. The case is therefore set to follow its normal course following the ruling.

Speaking to the Media after the ruling, the former Greater Accra regional minister told Starr News’ Wilberforce Asare the court will vindicate him.

“Now that their application has been dismissed, we are moving on to the next stage with a motion for an injunction to stop the lady from doing any campaign. And then we are going to finally decide whether she really is a registered voter.

“I didn’t lose that election, the point is that the woman was not qualified to stand, she was not qualified to stand and I didn’t lose that election. What is left now is a determination of whether she is a registered voter,” he stressed.
