Zaare and Gaabisi communities embark on Electrification project

Accra, Oct 24, GNA – The people of Zaare and Gaabisi in the Bolgatanga Central constituency of the Upper East Region, have embarked on an electrification project estimated at about 33 million cedis. In a statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Solomon Akakiya, Youth Chairman, the MP for the Bolgatanga Central, Mr David Apasera, has contributed seven million cedis while the elders of the community and the youth even though very poor have mobilised five million cedis towards the project.

Mr Akakiya appealed to well to do citizens of the area, philanthropists and organisations with development at heart for assistance to complete the project, which would facilitate the establishment rural and cottage industries in the area to create employment for the youth.

He said that the project apart from contributing to the development of the community would prevent the youth from trooping to the south and urban centres in search of non-existence work, which leads them into menial jobs for survival.

Mr Akakiya also appealed to the government and the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly for help since “God helps those who helped themselves,” adding that, the people have taken the initiative and must be supported to ensure the development of the area. He also urged citizens of the area residing outside to visit home regularly to contribute their quota to the development of the community.
