Youth group asks politicians to stop exploiting Dagbon crisis

A group calling itself the Bitam-bepilgu Youth Association in Dabokpa and Kalariga Electoral Areas in the Tamale Metropolises, have called on politicians to stop using the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis to canvass for votes.

They noted that, some politicians made vain promises about the crisis in the 2008 general election.

Mr Issahaku Umar, Secretary of the Association made the call in Tamale on Thursday at a press conference.

He alleged that the ruling National Democratic Congress used the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis to win votes, promising to use its first 100 days in office to find the killers of Ya -Na Yakubu Andani II.

Mr Umar asked the Andani and the Abudu Chieftaincy Gates, to help push an agenda of stopping politicians from exploiting the Ya- Na’s name on political platforms.

He said the group is praying for a visionary leader whose agenda is to unite Dagbon and appealed to the traditional authorities to work hard to facilitate the development of the area.**
