Youth development association inaugurated

Kofi-Gyan (W/R), Feb. 12, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Ayensu, Wassa West District Chief Executive, has called on the people to tolerate divergent views during electioneering campaigns for the forthcoming general election.

He said Ghana was not a one party state and people must tolerate each other’s views to ensure peace and harmony.

Mr Ayensu who made the call at the inauguration of Kofi-Gyan Ahohoo Kuo, a youth and development association, at Kofi-Gyan on Monday, urged members of the association, who were mostly farmers to initiate measures towards increased production in the district.

He further appealed to members not to use the association a platform for litigation thereby preventing the association from achieving its objectives of promoting unity, love and peace in the area. Mr Ayensu advised the people to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme because it could assist in addressing their health needs.

Mr Joseph Adjei Sowah, District Youth Coordinator, urged youth associations to include HIV/AIDS and malaria awareness in campaigns in their programme.

He advised that such programmes should concentrate on encouraging the youth to abstain from pre-marital and indiscriminate sex. Mr Sowah announced that the government would soon start operating a national youth fund to assist youth groups to set up businesses. The 10-member executive of the association has Mr Bismack Acheampong as chairman, Mr Samson Osei, vice-chairman and Madam Evelyn Quarm, treasurer.
