Yaa Asantewa School Produces Food

The Agricultural Department of Yaa Asantewaa Secondary School last year supplied the school’s kitchen with 70 maxi bags of maize and a quantity of palm nut and fruits. According to the headmistress, Mrs.. Mary Ansong, the agricultual project has cut down the school’s budget on food. It has also improved nutrition at the school. Mrs.. Ansong disclosed this at the school’s 5th Speech and Prize Giving Day in Kumasi. She said this year, the same quantity of maize has been harvested from a ten-acre plot of land. In addition, 250 citrus seedlings and 40 coconut trees have been planted the department also has 30 sheep and there are plans to add poultry to the project.
