World Vision (WV) Ghana, a Christian relief, advocacy and development organization, has donated anti-malaria medicines worth over GHc32,000.00 (over 13 million dollars) to the National Malaria Control Programme.
The drugs were expected to support the home-based Care Programme currently being implemented by the Ghana Health Service to assist in reducing the incidence of malaria, especially among children under-five years, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Mr. Hubert Charles, the Country Director of World Vision, said the Organisation was committed to working with children, families and their communities worldwide, to reach their full potential by tackling the underlying causes of poverty.
He said as part of its strategic objective, the World Vision supported Ministries, Departments and Agencies to achieve their set goals and objectives.
The donation was, therefore, a follow-up on an earlier one to the Ministry of Health during the recent launch of the organisation’s strategy on: “Closing the Health Gap for Children in Ghana”.
He said the organisation would remain loyal to its development agenda by recognising and supporting systems and programmes designed by the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service for implementation across the country.
Mr. Dan Osman, Head of the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Health, thanked World Vision for the sustained support over the years towards improved health care particularly for women and children, and for supporting the Ministry to strive to achieve its goals and objectives.
