Workshop to review improvement plan held in Kwabre District

Mamponteng (Ash), Oct 15, GNA- A two-day education workshop to review the Civil Service Performance Improvement Plan (CSPIP) of the Kwabre District Assembly has been held at Mamponteng. It was organised by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service with sponsorship from the Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom (UK) in collaboration with the district assembly.

Heads of department attended the workshop and some selected assembly members and it aimed at educating the participants with the skills and knowledge to enhance good governance.

Nana Agyekum Dwamena, Head of Performance Management, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMMED) of the Civil Service, said the workshop is being undertaken in some districts in Ashanti, Eastern and Greater Accra and all the three northern regions.

He said CSPIP was planned as a programme in 1995 to support service delivery and to help all the ministries, departments, Regional Co-ordinating Councils and the district assemblies to develop their own plans for implementation.

Nana Dwamena said the method developed for the Performance Improvement Programme was based on the formation of Capacity Development Team (CDT) in each district and it was to help the various districts to organise and mobilise resources to get their agenda moving.

Alhaji Ahmed Akwasi Yeboah, Kwabre District Chief Executive, said the assembly holds the programme in high esteem and called on the participants to work hard to enhance the development of the district.

He said he hoped the participants will not keep the knowledge acquired to themselves but will share it with their counterparts at all levels in the district.
