Workshop on guidance and counselling organised for teachers

Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 2, GNA- Nkoranza District Education Directorate has organized a one-day workshop to for 150 headmasters and school health teachers on guidance and counselling techniques to promote discipline in schools.

Mr. Kwabena Agyeman-Badu, District Director of Education expressed concern about teenage pregnancy in some schools and urged teachers to intensify sex education in the communities.

He asked them to show love, concern, affection and care for students, who could in turn confide their problems in them. The District Director advised guidance and counselling coordinators to ensure confidentiality and maintain the respect of their clients at all times.

Mr. Agyeman-Badu advised parents to show concern for their children by providing them with their basic needs to prevent them from going into the street.

Teachers should be disciplined and must lead morally upright lives to enable their students to emulate them, he said.

Mr. Abraham Nimoh, District School Health Coordinator advised teachers to monitor the activities of food vendors in schools and to ensure that they operated under hygienic conditions.

He noted the importance of personal hygienic and asked teachers to promote such practices among students.
