Cape Coast, Oct 7, GNA – Mr Asamoah Boateng, a Deputy Minister of Information, has warned drivers to desist from drunkenness and other vices that hinder productivity and affects the socio-economic development of the country.
He said this when he met staff of the Information Services Department (ISD) in Cape Coast.
Mr Boateng also warned that anybody caught drunk during working hours would be seriously dealt with.
He told the ISD workers that the ministry was making efforts to procure more vans for the department to enable the workers to explain government policies to people in the hinterlands.
Mr Boateng also said plans were afoot to turn the department into an Internet Service provider to enable it generate more funds to finance its operations.
He commended the staff for giving off their best despite the “trying conditions” under which they worked and said the ministry was doing its best to improve working conditions at the department.
Mr Elvis Adanyina, a Director at the ISD, said there would be mass transfer of workers as part of efforts to restructure the Department towards efficiency.
Mr Asamoah Boateng interacted with staff of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation where he announced the intention of the authorities to increase the television license fee from 3,000 to 15,000 cedis a year to enable the corporation solve some of its financial problems.
