Workers sensitized on Pension-third tier

Dr Yaw Baah, the Deputy Secretary General of the Ghana Trade Union Congress (GTUC), has urged public servants to contribute high wages to their pension scheme.

He indicated that, if workers see to the regular contributions to the pension scheme, their retirement income would be secured.

Dr Baah, who is also a board member of the National Pension Regulatory Authority (NPRA), was educating members of the New Juaben Municipal Council of labour on the New third tier Pension Scheme in Koforidua on Thursday.

He highlighted on the benefits of the scheme which provides for pension benefits that ensure retirement income security for workers and better standard of living.

He said the scheme sought to ensure that, every worker received pension benefit as and when it was due.

Members of the union later elected their new executives and women’s committee for the next four years.**
