Tamale, Aug. 20, GNA- The President of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Ghana (FOMWAG) Hajia Hajara Telly, has called on women to take leadership positions in the country.
She noted that the nation could not develop properly without the support of women.
Hajia Telly was speaking at a two-day workshop organised for Muslim women and women traders to sensitise them on the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS) in Tamale on Thursday.
She urged men and other stakeholders to give women the chance and encourage them to contribute meaningfully to national development. The Social Enterprise Development (SEND), Foundation of West Africa and Ibis Ghana, NGOs involved in promoting the welfare of women in the Northern Region, sponsored the workshop.
Hajia Azara Abubakari, Regional Secretary of FOMWAG called on Muslim women, especially the young ones to acquire employable skills to make them contribute meaningfully to the development of the country. Mr Razak Saani, an official of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Tamale, appealed to women to take advantage of the credit facilities offered by the government.
