Women Urged To Promote Gender Balance At Workplaces

Accra (GAR), July 11, – The Trades Union Congress (TUC) today called on working women to identify strategies which will promote gender balance and equality in the unions, the work-pl The TUC also called on them to make positive cont ributions towards the eradication poverty am ong women. Addressing the first in a series of seminars for women unionists at Mendskrom, Accra, Mrs.Veronica Ayikwei-Kofie, head of the Women’s Desk of the TUC said, the labour movement views the tota The one-week seminar is aimed at strengthening the ability of women to assume leadership positions and is under the theme, ” Women in Leadership; Prospects and Challenges.” She noted that if women refuse to take their rightful place in the development of the country, they would be left behind by their male counterparts. Mrs. Ayikwei-Kofie said women can contribute even better when exposed properly to the missions and objectives of their places of work and the country.
